Over the last year, dozens of Long Island Fire Departments have relied on RedLine Gear Cleaning to provide NFPA 1851 advanced turnout cleaning and inspections.
Last week, the Nassau County Fire Service Academy (NCFSA) took a huge step in protecting not only their own instructors but also the tens of thousands of firefighters on Long Island from occupational cancer. The NCFSA, as part of their cancer prevention initiative, has contracted RedLine to provide multiple advanced cleanings each year for the bunker gear worn by academy instructors.
In order to better serve the academy and the hundreds of departments on Long Island, RedLine has dedicated a Mobile Extraction Unit® (MEU) specifically for Long Island. This new MEU will be located at the academy and operated by Emergency Decon Services, a Long Island based decontamination business that is owned and operated by firefighters with more than 80 years of experience in the fire service.
This means New York departments will receive faster response times and a dedicated gear cleaning partner that they can rely on to provide the best turnout gear cleaning and inspection possible.
We are extremely excited to call the NCFSA home to our Mobile Extraction Unit and even more proud to see such a large institution step up and pioneer true change in the fire service.
